By subscribing to the DA BOX CSA program, you agree to follow the Terms and Conditions of the program detailed below.
What are my subscription options?
Weekly Subscription - $80 for 4 weeks
Bi-Monthly Subscription - $40 for 2 weeks
You will receive one bag of produce on each week of your subscription. Each bag consists of a minimum of seven items, generally 1-2 fruits and 5-6 vegetables.
Deliveries for each subscription follow discrete 4-week monthly cycles that are set for the year in our DA BOX Program Calendar.
All subscriptions are automatically renewed each month until we receive your written or verbal notice to cancel.
How do I pay for a subscription with SNAP-EBT?
Subscriptions paid with SNAP-EBT receive an automatic 50% discount from our DA BUX Double Up Food Bucks program. Due to federal funding restrictions of the DA BUX program, we designate which weeks of each monthly subscription cycle are paid in-full with SNAP-EBT and which weeks are covered by the DA BUX discount and are considered free bags. Federal regulation does not allow refunds for free bags covered by the DA BUX discount.

SNAP-EBT MUST be processed in person at your pick-up site once a month. Please check our DA BOX Program Calendar to view the SNAP-EBT payment collection week for each monthly subscription cycle. Phone payments are NOT acceptable per USDA regulation.
Timely payments during payment collection week is critical to minimizing operational costs and to keeping our CSA subscription rates as low as possible. Missed payment will result in automatic suspension of the member's account.
There are specific weeks when I won't be able to pick up my bags, what should I do?
To avoid being charged for the weeks you will be unavailable to pick up your bags, you must give us at least 7 days advance notice.
If you will miss scheduled pick ups that were already paid for and you provide us 7 days advance notice, we will issue a partial refund for the portion of your subscription that will be unfulfilled. You can reach us at 808-796-3091 or at dabox@hawaiifoodbasket.org.
Can I receive an extra produce bag to make up for a week I missed my pick-up?
No, we cannot provide an extra produce bag on your next pick-up week to make up for a missed pick-up. Your monthly payment allows us to order your produce from Hawaiʻi Island farmers on the scheduled weeks of your subscription. If you missed a scheduled bag pick-up, you forfeit that bag to be given to a family or individual in need of food.
Can I receive a refund for bags I did not pick up?
We do not issue refunds for missed pick-ups. If you miss your pick-up along our routes, you may also pick-up your bag Tuesday-Thursday from 11am-1pm at Roma Jiu Jitsu Academy (1332 Kilauea Ave, Hilo, HI 96720). All remaining bags not picked up by Thursday at 1pm will be donated to a family or individual in need of food.
If you provided at least 7 days advance notice that you will be unavailable to pick up a scheduled bag, we will issue a partial refund for the week(s) you were unavailable for pick-up.
If I missed my payment, can I reinstate my suspended account?
A suspended account can be reinstated at the start of the next monthly subscription cycle by calling the DA BOX CSA office at 808-796-3091.
If you are paying with SNAP-EBT, you must make special arrangements to pay off your unpaid balance in-person at our office in order to reinstate you for the next monthly subscription cycle.
What is the cancellation policy?
Customers can cancel their subscription at any time using the online portal. However, no partial refunds are allowed on your first subscription. If you want to cancel mid-way through your first subscription, we do not refund for the remaining weeks. Upon renewing your subscription, partial refunds will be allowed for unfulfilled weeks of the active subscription.
Customers that choose to cancel through email or phone call will be asked to give a 7 days notice prior to their cancellation. The 7 days notice must be on a Monday prior to the next distribution week for weekly members. If a customer emails, asking to cancel their subscription mid-way through the subscription week, unfortunately, we do not issue refunds for the following distribution week.
Can someone else pick up for me?
Yes, you can designate someone else to pick up your produce for you.
How does the DA BOX CSA Team communicate with members?
DA BOX CSA Team members will communicate important updates, reminders, and CSA news via email and text. Please check your email inbox regularly. You will also find important information at our website daboxcsa.org, including pick-up locations and times, and our DA BOX Program Calendar.
