What Is DA BOX CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and that's what DA BOX stands for too!

We connect Hawaiʻi Island's farmers to the community in an affordable monthly subscription.

DA BOX CSA is The Food Basket's flagship healthy food access program established in 2014. DA BOX CSA works to support local agriculture by serving as a stable wholesale buyer for Hawaiʻi Island farmers. We purchase Hawaiʻi grown fruits and vegetables from over 70 farms per year and resell to residents at wholesale rates as an affordable subscription service.

Through DA BOX CSA, The Food Basket is advancing our mission to end hunger and to lead the creation of an equitable food system that benefits all producers and consumers on Hawaiʻi Island.

How It Works:

Step 1: Choose Your Subscription

DA BOX CSA currently offers two CSA products: Regular CSA (7 items, good size for 2 people) and Mea'ai Nani (4 items, perfect for 1 person). All items are sourced from Big Island growers and producers. You can opt to receive your CSA Weekly or Bi-Monthly (twice per month).

Step 2: Select Your Pickup Site

We bring local produce to pickup sites all over the island, choose yours from the schedule below.

Step 3: Choose Payment Option

We accept credit/debit cards as well as SNAP/EBT. (Bonus: SNAP users automatically receive a 50% discount thanks to DA BUX Double Up Food Bucks! Learn more at dabux.org)

Our CSA Products:

Regular CSA

Our original and most popular product! The Regular CSA is a thoughtfully curated assortment of fruits, vegetables, starches, herbs, and more. Usually 7 items, this bag is a perfect size for 1 or 2 people.

Mea'ai Nani

The Mea'ai Nani CSA product aims to rescue food that may otherwise be wasted. Some items may have cosmetic quirks like irregular sizes, shapes, or colors. Or they may be surplus produce that didn't find a market yet. Rest assured, all items are perfectly safe to eat. Great size for 1 person or to supplement the Regular CSA bag with a little extra produce.
