Reducing Plastic Waste by Reusing Your Containers
It's no secret that the global use of plastic places a heavy burden on our environment and even on public health. The plastic industry is estimated to contribute 14% of national toxic chemical emissions per year. After these plastics are used and discarded, they can take up to 400 years to decompose. About 8 million tons of plastic ends up in the oceans annually, threatening marine life and breaking down into micro-plastics that make their way onto our plates via seafood. DA BOX has tried to cut back on its plastic waste by switching to compostable bags, but there are still items that are difficult to distribute without using plastic.
Csiszar Olena Farms cuts back on their plastic waste as much as possible by collecting, sterilizing and reusing their plastic clam-shell containers whenever they can. This allows them to avoid ordering new plastic to send to the landfill as much as possible. Please consider rinsing your plastic micro-greens containers and bringing them back to us so that they can be re-used!
